Taiwan is one of the latest countries to announce its digital nomad visa. 2024 seems like a good year for remote workers, as many countries have announced and continue to offer digital nomad visas.

East and Southeast Asia are becoming more attractive and popular for digital nomads as more countries now offer digital nomad visas to remote workers. Taiwan is one of the latest countries to issue digital nomad visas for remote workers.

On 19 July the National development minister of taiwan announced that the country will issue a six month digital nomad visa for remote workers.

Well as digital nomads are happy for the announcement but currently there aren’t any official details introduced by the government of taiwan.

The only detail officially confirmed by the government of Taiwan is the validity of this visa. According to NDC Minister Paul Liu, Taiwan’s digital nomad visa will allow remote workers to stay in the territory of Taiwan for up to six months.

From the point of validity it’s same with Japan digital nomad visa, Japan also offer a 6 months digital nomad visa to remote workers who meet the requirements and hass eligible country passport.

It’s looking like a good option for digital nomads who want to spend longer time in East Asia. a digital nomad can stay for 6 months in Japan and after ending his/her visa he/she can travel to taiwan and stay for 6 months in Taiwan.

By this steps he/she will be able to apply again for new digital nomad visa for Japan as he/she spent in Taiwan and the same they can do back for taiwan.

The government of taiwan did not published any information about taiwan digital nomad visa requirements but it’s confirmed that in this program Taiwan looking for talented people, people who generate high income.

Passport: you will need a passport with minimum 6 months from the departure to taiwan but there is no official information about the nationality matters.

It’s not yet announced that is there any nationality restrictions or everyone who meet the rest requirements can apply for Taiwan digital nomad visa.

It’s expecting that Taiwan may follow Japan and it’s digital nomad visa will has strict nationality restrictions, as Japan allows only 49 country citizens to apply for Japan digital nomad visa.

Income requirement: there is official information about income requirement, as soon as the government of taiwan announce it we will update it here.

Remote work Proof: it’s not confirmed but it’s highly expecting that as from it’s name, only remote workers will be able to apply for Taiwan digital nomad visa.

A remote work proof can be a job letter, a work contract, a partnership agreement or etc.

We don’t know whether Taiwan’s digital nomad visa will be available for those who work independently (freelancers) or only for those who work for a company outside of Taiwan.
